Why Native Plants

Every native planted is a home restored.

Australian gardens have a choice: water-hungry exotics that feed nothing, or tough natives that bring your backyard to life.

Why Tube Stock

Small plant, big future.

Tube stock looks unimpressive. A 50mm pot with a plant that fits in your palm. But underground, something important is happening.

Young plants in small pots send their roots out, into your soil, from day one. Larger potted plants often have roots that circle the pot-and keep circling after planting, never properly establishing. That $25 "advanced" plant may never catch up to its $5 tube stock neighbour.

The maths:Your tube stock will match a larger potted plant within 2 seasons. By year 5, it will look like what your neighbour's pot-bound plant will struggle to achieve at year 10. Better roots mean better growth-exponentially.

🌱 Tube Stock ($5)

  • •Year 2: Matches larger potted plants
  • •Year 5: Exceeds what pot-bound plants reach at year 10
  • •Roots grow outward into native soil from day one
  • •Less transplant shock, higher survival rate
  • •Less water, less plastic, lower carbon

🪴 Large Potted ($25+)

  • •Year 2: Still recovering from transplant
  • •Year 5-10: Circling roots limit growth forever
  • •Root-bound plants may never establish properly
  • •5x the price for worse long-term results
  • •Heavy watering required much longer

Your $5 tube stock at year 5 will outperform your neighbour's $25 potted plant at year 10.

The Problem

We have built over the bush.

Australia's suburbs were carved out of some of the most biodiverse landscapes on Earth. What was once wallum heath, ironbark forest, and coastal scrub is now lawn, concrete, and roses.

The wildlife that depended on those habitats didn't disappear-they're still here, clinging to roadside verges and neglected corners. Looking for food. Looking for shelter. Finding less every year.

10 million backyards could be 10 million habitats. Yours is one of them.

The Opportunity

Your backyard is bigger than you think.

A single grevillea can feed a dozen honeyeaters. A patch of lomandra shelters skinks and provides nesting material for wrens. A banksia flowers through winter when almost nothing else does.

String enough of these backyard patches together and you create something powerful: wildlife corridors-green highways that let species move, feed, and breed across fragmented landscapes.

You don't need acreage. You need intention.

Climate Resilience

Plants that already know our weather.

Australian native plants evolved through ice ages, mega-droughts, and fire seasons that would kill any European garden. They don't need coddling. They don't need constant watering. They don't wilt in February.

While your neighbour's hydrangeas gasp through summer, your native garden will be feeding bees and looking like it belongs. Because it does.

Drought-Proof

Deep roots and waxy leaves evolved for Australian summers

Fire-Adapted

Many species resprout after fire or need it to germinate

☀️

Heat-Hardy

No wilt, no brown edges, no life support required

Why Evergreen

35 years in the potting shed.

We've been growing Australian natives since 1989. Not as a side hustle to exotics-as our entire purpose. We propagate from local provenance seed where possible, grow in Australian soil, and know these plants because we've watched them grow for decades.

Some of the species we grow are disappearing from the wild. By keeping them in cultivation and getting them into gardens, we're building a distributed seed bank across thousands of backyards.

"Extinction starts in backyards-so does recovery."

Start with one plant.

See what visits. A honeyeater. A blue-banded bee. A skink in the mulch. Then add another. That's how corridors begin.
